RAKAN KPDN

The formerly known Skuad Pengguna has now been rebranded to Rakan KPDN with the aim to increase and strengthen its function across the nation.

The main roles of the members of Rakan KPDN include voluntary monitoring of prices of goods and services and report any kinds of business misconducts to the Ministry. The synergy among consumers and the Ministry is very important in creating an integrated and precise consumerism movement for upholding the consumer rights.

NATIONAL CONSUMER MOVEMENT COUNCIL (MGPK)

MGPK is a council chaired by Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living and its committee consists of all the State Chairman of the Consumer Movement (GPN), which consists the State Director of Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) and the appointed Co-Chairman from the consumers’ association. MGPK’s objective is to discuss issues on consumerism, to coordinate the implementation of consumer programs and activities at state and district levels and also serves as the liaison body between the Federal and State governments in the areas of consumerism.

STATE CONSUMER MOVEMENT (GPN)

GPN is a forum chaired by the Chairman of the State Consumer Movement (GPN) which are State Director of the Ministry Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), and appointed Co-Chairman from the consumer organizations, representatives from State business enterprises, State Agencies and the District Chairman of the Consumer Movement (GPD). GPN was established to provide an official forum to discuss and to solve consumer problems at the state level. This is in line with the Ministry’s vision to focus on people, especially at state and district levels that currently they are lack of channels to voice their concerns. With this GPN, the Ministry has established a channel allowing all parties to jointly discuss and find ways to overcome consumer issue.

DISTRICT CONSUMER MOVEMENT (GPD)

GPD is a forum chaired by the Head Branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) and the co-chairman which is appointed among GPDs, and it’s committee consisting of representatives from consumer associations in district level, representatives from local business organizations, Government agencies at district level and individuals who are active in the field of consumerism. GPD main tasks includes of the following tasks: –

i.To plan, coordinate and implement activities of consumerism at district level;

ii.To advice to the Gerakan Pengguna Negeri (GPN) on any matters relating to the consumer;

iii. To help, investigate and address the issues of consumerism at district level;

iv.To help to move the Skuad Pengguna;

v. To assist in program / activities organized by the State and branches of KPDN

CONSUMERS ASSOCIATION OR ORGANIZATION

KPDN is always supporting the establishment of associations or consumer organizations at district and state levels. In addition, the ministry work closely with the association / organization in implementing consumer education programs throughout the country. This is consistent with the Ministry’s intention to create a partnership between the government, non-government and consumers whereas the Ministry facilitate in any related issues.

DISTRICT ASSISTANT OF CONSUMERISM AFFAIRS (PKP)

PKP was re-introduced in 2019 with the roles and responsibilities in assisting the Ministry in consumerism programms and activities. The 222 PKP across all Parliaments are appointed as coordinators of the Ministry to convey any information to other consumers in their communities. Among the job scopes of the Coordinator include:

a.Assisting the Ministry by carrying out consumerism initiatives through programmes and activities;

b.Be of assistance to the community in handling complaints related to consumerism; and

c.Disseminating any information relating to consumerism to the local communities.
