1. What Made in Malaysia Logo is all about?

Made in Malaysia Logo is a form of recognition for business items or products which are made from local ingredients as an incentive for consumers to give support to locally manufactured products compared to imports.

2. How does KPDN verify the application (product) was really made in Malaysia?

Valuation the percentage of raw materials is applied from the agency concerned to the subject requirements and product type. For example; F & B Industry must get the confirmation from Ministry of Health (Food Safety and Quality, Nutrition Facts) and Halal from JAKIM (if necessary). Whereas, for electrical and electronic materials must have an endorsement from the Energy Commission, SIRIM. These may reduce bureaucracy and simplify the evaluation process. However, in-depth review would be carried out to prevent falsification of information.

3. How much the application would cost and how long the processing time?

No application fee and the application will be processed within 30 working days.

4. What action will be taken if there are parties use Made in Malaysia Logo without approval?

Made in Malaysia Logo was registered as intellectual property of the government through the Malaysian Intellectual Property Corporation (MyIPO). Any use of the logo must obtain prior approval from KPDN in accordance with the Trade Descriptions Act 2011. Accordingly, KPDN can take civil legal action in the High Court under the provisions of Section 39 (2) (a), (b), and (c) of the Act 175. In addition, KPDN is also taking legal action in the proceedings of Sessions Court by adopting the provisions of Section 8, Trade Descriptions Act 2011 [Act 730]. A fine is not exceeding RM15,000 per item and for a second or subsequent offense, a fine is not exceeding RM30,000 per item (a); or a fine is not exceeding RM10,000.00 per item or imprisonment is not exceeding three years or both, and for a second or subsequent offense to a fine is not exceeding RM20,000 per item and imprisonment is not exceeding 5 years or both (people). Section 16 of the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 [Act 730] also apply to this enforcement purposes.

5. How long is the validity of each approval granted?

The validity period of Made in Malaysia Logo is 3 years. A new application must be submitted again.
