The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is responsible for processing and issuing Malaysian Goods Logo Marking Approval certificates to business entities after meeting the prescribed requirements..

BACKGROUND

KPDN has implemented the rating of locally produced goods through the Made in Malaysia Logo Marking since 1997 to give recognition to manufacturers and producers of local products and dignify Malaysian products/goods. Through this initiative, consumers can identify local products when making purchases while instilling a sense of patriotism among Malaysians. This initiative indirectly encourages the people to prioritize local goods and can help promote locally produced goods for domestic and foreign markets as well as stimulate the economy and development of the local industry.

LOGO CATEGORY

  MALAYSIAN PRODUCT

  • Goods produced through manufacturing/processing activities in Malaysia and containing a minimum of 40% local raw materials.

 MADE IN MALAYSIA

  • Goods produced through manufacturing/processing activities in Malaysia and involving substantial transformation elements in the raw materials used without taking into account the percentage of local raw materials.

LOGO RATIONALE

Continuous recognition is a catalyst for the ability to produce products that are competitive in the local and international markets. With the concept of "be the best among the best", this logo is expected to be a driving force towards more persistent efforts in producing Malaysian products.

  • Design

The logo that was created emphasizes the continuous efforts and recognition that is a source of inspiration for the Malaysian manufacturing community through small, medium and large industries symbolized by the three main stripes.

  • Colour

The selection of colors is based on the basic colors of the Jalur Gemilang which symbolize the harmony, competitiveness and great spirit of Malaysians.

  • The words MALAYSIAN PRODUCT and MADE IN MALAYSIA were chosen from the Helvetica Regular type to show the stance and strengthening of the Malaysian community.

LOGO GUIDE

 MARKING  MALAYSIAN GOOD LOGO WITHOUT APPROVAL

Trade Description Act 2011 [Act 730]
Section 16

(1) No person shall make any false representation by any means, whether directly or indirectly, that any goods or services supplied by him or any method used by him are goods -goods or services supplied to or approved by any person including any government or government department or agency or any international body or agency whether in Malaysia or abroad.

(2) Subsection (1) shall have effect without prejudice to the provisions of any written law prohibiting or restricting the use of any name, emblem, insignia, seal, flag, pennant, title, coat of arms, sign, word or letters or any other form of description in the course of trade, business, occupation or profession.

 Marking Malaysian Goods Logo Without Approval

Company

  1. The fine does not exceed RM 500,000.00 for the first offence.
  2. The fine does not exceed RM 1,000,000.00 for the second offence.

 Individual

  1. Fine not exceeding RM 250,000.00 for the first offense @ imprisonment not exceeding 3 years @ both.
  2. Fine not exceeding RM 500,000.00 for the second offense @ imprisonment not exceeding 5 years @ both.

APPLICATION PERIOD

Malaysia Goods Logo Marking approval letter issued within 30 working days.

APPLICATION FEE

There is no fee/application fee applied to the application for marking the Malaysian Goods Logo.

APPROVAL VALIDITY PERIOD

The valid period of use of the Malaysian Goods Logo is for 3 years. Expired approval must submit a new application
