Taste of Malaysia is another Ministry’s initiative in promoting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME’s) and Made in Malaysia products designed specifically for customer awareness and opportunity to market the products in the retail network in Malaysia. In 2019, this programme has been implemented in 14 selected locations throughout Malaysia (as per PCM Tour Series Schedule below). The PCM implementation involved strategic cooperation with selected agencies and departments based on the location.

This promotional programme is held throughout the year at selected supermarkets. Each program will last three (3) to four (4) days depending on the location selected to provide exhibitors opportunity to promote and market their products. In addition to selling, exhibitors are required to conduct food sampling activities as well as promotional activities such as contests or performances to attract visitors. Besides new marketing opportunities, the program will also serve as a platform for local exhibitors to introduce their products directly to consumers as well as assisting established local companies to compete as major suppliers in local and foreign hypermarkets.

The objectives of this programmme are as follows:

1. Opening up marketing opportunities for MSME’s products to be listed in the supermarket on a regular basis;
2. Increase the competitiveness of MSME’s products to attract more customers and able to compete with foreign products;
3. Increase MSME’s entrepreneurs product management and development skills for greater capacity markets;
4. Establishing partnership between supermarkets and MSME’s to expand marketing and business opportunities; and
5. Introducing and promoting made in Malaysia products and encouraging the purchase and usage of such products.
