Introduction

The Policy, Strategic and International Planning Division is responsible for planning and formulating policies for the Ministry to develop and strengthen the growth of domestic trade and consumerism.

Objective

Ensure that the development of domestic trade and consumer protection programs are in line with current needs and they are implemented in line with the policies that have been drafted and planned.

Function

  1. Identify and monitor current and domestic issues affecting domestic trade and consumerism;
  2. Develop strategy and direction of the Ministry as well as address the challenges that need to be addressed through the formation of new policies to promote domestic trade and consumerism;
  3. Monitor implementation of the Ministry’s Strategic Plan;
  4. Review the effectiveness and suitability of laws under the Ministry’s jurisdiction
  5. Oversee Malaysian Intellectual Property Corporation (MyIPO), Malaysia Competition Commission and coordinate corporate governance issues for the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM); and
  6. Plan and prepare issues relating to MDTCOL for the Malaysia 5-Year Plan.
